Our Commitments

Princesse de Clèves' commitment to the preservation of nature is present at the very heart of its creation. Indeed, our know-how is intrinsically linked to the stability of the heritage represented by Champagne's biodiversity. The latter is the source of the richness of expression in terms of terroirs, flavors and tastes required to produce exceptional wines. In the face of today's environmental challenges, the Maison Princesse de Clèves has made a strong commitment to responsible and virtuous viticultural and artisanal practices.Preserving our winegrowing heritage: We are convinced that a great wine finds its strength, subtlety and elegance in its terroir.

For the Maison de Clèves, protecting the biodiversity of its vineyards is an absolute necessity. The climate in Champagne has warmed by an average of 1.8°C between 1961 and 2020, and the harvest starts on average 20 days earlier than thirty years ago.

As a result, champagne is becoming increasingly difficult to produce. As part of our commitment to preserving our natural heritage, we are already committed to protecting our soils, aware that this is the heritage of future generations, and we therefore refuse to use inputs in order to respect health and the environment. The Viticulture Durable and Haute Valeur Environnementale certifications we have obtained attest to this. The quest to obtain these certifications has been at the expense of the quantity of grapes harvested, but we are now assured of a neutral balance in terms of diversity. The company also uses biocontrol techniques to protect the vineyard from certain pests, such as mating disruption on all plots to combat grape berry worms (eudemis and cochylis).

In our specifications, we are proud to report a total absence of chemical weeding, replaced by mechanical weeding, which is more tedious, but more respectful of nature.

The commitments inherent in our brand are also reflected in responsible and sustainable water management: 100% of the water used during the vine-growing and champagnizing stages (such as when cleaning viticultural equipment or a vat room, for example) is recycled.

In addition, reducing our company's carbon footprint is an ongoing obsession. In concrete terms, we have already reduced the packaging of each bottle by an average of 55g during shipping, without losing any of its protective qualities, thanks to a technological research effort involving all our partners. Convinced that to act alone is to act in vain, we work with all our stakeholders to restore the ecological balance.

The partners we have chosen:

  • ISO 22000 guaranteeing the food safety of our products for the health of consumers.
  • With our partners, at the cutting edge in many fields, Princesse de Clèves cultivates a taste for innovation in the service of the product (quality, traceability, wine conservation, corking, oxygen control...).
